Have you made your New Year's Resolution? I haven't done that or made a pot of black eyed peas yet... I have some goals I would love to see happen in 2012 and hopefully I will be able to accomplish them. I am including below our annual Christmas Abbott Newsletter for 2011.

Annual Abbott Christmas Letter 2011
The Greatest Gift of All
Christmas is such a special time of year. It invokes a time of joy ...with smells, tastes, feelings, traditions and nostalgia all playing an important role. What is it that makes Christmas so special though? There are certainly elements of Christmas that are hardly perfect. I tend to overwhelm myself with hand made projects or home baked goodies to share with one and all. We find ourselves coming and going trying to keep up with the various Christmas programs and open houses. Each year putting up our very tall tree becomes more of a challenge and outside decorations are a thing of the past. Our gift giving historically has seen more profitable years and our country may never have seemed more stressed and anxious. So what is it that makes Christmas so special?
As I ponder this question thinking about our various Christmas traditions and routines I begin to see the answer. There is no chore in each Christmas program that is attended and viewed with grandparent pride and happiness. Hearing a thrilled grandchild say, “ I saw you taking my picture.” has a way of lighting up our hearts. We count ourselves loved and blessed that it is difficult to fit in every event or party we are invited to. It warms our spirit that our children want to help us with the tree and how nice it is to enjoy the creativity of what other folks display in their yards. Seeing the eager inspection of the little ones checking out Christmas at Mimi & Big Daddy's house ...or getting notes from friends who share that they love telling their children about the times they came to visit when they were little, to gather around and enjoy our big homey tree....makes it all worthwhile. When gift exchange time comes, somehow our home made efforts make us feel proud that God gifted us with ways to offer tokens of our love... and that...is the reason this time of year is so special to us.... because it is filled to overflowing with Love.
This Christmas may you experience God's overflowing Love through the Christ Child, His Word of Love.
“ The Word became flesh and lived among us.” John 1:14
Wishing you a Season of Peace!
